Grow own food
Imagine biting into a big juicy peach that grew on the tree in your back yard, from the tree and into your mouth. No middle men, no cold storage, just you and the tree.
This is something I find very satisfying, when it actually tastes good, can taste disgusting. Growing quality food is a skill.
Anyway, what I’m trying to say here is that I think everyone should grow food, anything! Even its just some herbs to put in your cooking (rosemary is the easiest to grow and grows big, one plant and you'll have more then you can, learn more here). You could have a peach tree; just have to get to the fruit before the birds do. But there are so many other possibilities that are easy to do:
Potatoes, some loose dirt and water is all you need and at the end of the summer you dig em up and eat, don’t forget to save a couple for next year.
Tomatoes are another easy one.
These are all really easy to grow, and there is a whole lot of gardening info out there, here is a great one I like
And if you’re strapped for house space. You could try this vertical garden.
Aquaponics is also great, bit trickier but once you get the hang of it, the plants grow like crazy. My dad setup a system and he has never seen plants grow so fast, and he has done a lot of gardening.
I think it’s something everyone should do, it has really helped me connect with nature, be more aware of where my food comes from, and I find it really satisfying to watch a plant grow and be rewarded with food to eat.
